At what point, temperature-wise, would you not look askance at a woman in flip-flops (assuming they were otherwise appropriate to her level of dress)?
If you choose to answer this one, please also say where you live. I suspect, for example, that 50 degrees does not sound as downright tropical to you DC folks as it does to me.
When I was in college, in New York, my roommate wore shorts and Teva's every day of the year - rain, shine, snow, sleet, 90 degrees, 12 degrees. He looked normal to me. Though maybe because that's his normal?
ReplyDeleteWell, as a NJ native, who is always rushing into spring before it is actually here, I wouldn't be too surprised to find myself pulling my flip flops out of storage once the weather proved to be holding at 50 or above. Maybe 55.
ReplyDeleteI actually think it's more a seasonal thing than a temperature thing. Spring/summer/fall (April-October-ish?) yes. November-March (unless you just got a pedicure!) no.

ReplyDeleteHere is what happened: I went to DC (a post on that probably coming soon) for a long weekend. I brought my flip-flops. When I left the house on Jan. 27 at 11 a.m., it was 65 degrees. I wore said flip-flops, jeans, a short-sleeved t-shirt and brought a lightweight cardigan along, just in case.
By the time I got home, after midnight, it was way too cold to wear flip-flops and no jacket.
I mean, it was January.
Oh, and my pedicure was relatively fresh, but that did not stop me from getting another one.
