Salad days

Quick hypothetical question: Let's say you have a pot luck at work. And you agreed to bring the salad, because you were in Washington and weren't going to have time to make something. So you bring lettuce and cherry tomatoes and a bowl and some dressing into the office.

How do you dry the lettuce?

You're supposed to dry it?

Sorry; should have been more explicit.
The lettuce was not pre-washed, so I washed it.
And then was left with soaking wet lettuce and just those office paper towels that don't so much absorb moisture. Obviously, no office salad spinner.

Honestly, I just shake the drips off in the sink. I guess I expect a certain degree of wetness from my salad. Never really gave it any thought before!

If there's no office salad spinner, I guess an office blow dryer is out of the question…?

Wash the lettuce about 20 minutes before assembling the rest of the salad and let it air-dry.

Other solutions involve having a clean cloth of some sort, preferably a dish towel or something similar, putting the lettuce in the middle, picking it up by the corners and twirling it around your head. Keep a good grip on all corners, otherwise it becomes a sling, and the lettuce becomes a projectile.

I hate my RSS feed, it always gives me your blog updates too late for salad emergencies.
