Thank you for your support

I went to college in the late 1980s, into the early 1990s, which was, I believe, the heyday of the wine cooler.
And most of my women friends didn't drink a whole lot in college, and neither did I. But we had a wine cooler or two, here and there.
Today, I was looking at the blog of one of those women friends, now a woman in her 30s, a wife, mother, artist, business owner, and I noticed this on her Twitter feed:
Completely caught-up business-wise, I'm kicking back tonight with a copy of Artful Blogging. Love this mag. Think I need a wine cooler.
It made me almost alarmingly happy. She claims to me now, in IM, that she only has about one every three months, but still, it pleases me to know that she still drinks them. It feels like there is some continuity in the universe.
It also brought up, and not for the first time this month, the time she was dared to bring a wine cooler to her logic class (at, I want to say, 9 a.m.) and drink it. Dare accepted, her parents (and children) would be proud to know.

Everyone knows that the proper in-class beverage for a 9am class is a can of coke. Pepsi, if you're desperate and it's all the vending machine in the Hall of Sciences has...

I believe the Wine Cooler Incident was an early afternoon affair. I'm thinking 1:00. It was a peach wine cooler, in an opaque water bottle, and after that class was over, I brought it with me to my shift at the Computer Aide Station. Good thing my boss was some clueless guy named Neil or I could have gotten myself fired :-D

Luckily, there were witnesses. And I have e-mailed them.

Lisa, you were going to be fired, but some 20-something guy named Aidan jumped out of a Delorian, shoved a faded picture in my face and told me that if I fired you, he'd never be born.

Nicely played, Neil. Nicely played.

Was I in London when this happened? I have no recollection of said incident, but then again, remember practically nothing from college anyway. Whether 9am or 1pm, nice going Lis. Didn't realize my roommate was a badass.

My sister told me (on numerous occasions for some reason) that she's only been sick from drinking one time in her life. Naturally, this alleged single incident was a direct result of wine coolers. 2 to be exact. For effect, I repeat, 2 wine coolers.

You wonder why I tell you this?

She claims she skipped school that day (a rebellious one she was) and thus, this all occurred at roughly 9 or 10am.

Coincidence?

Yes. But a very relevant one I think!
