The anonymous comment experiment: Thanksgiving

You didn't think the anonymous comment experiment was over, did you?

Silly reader.

Here's how it goes, as usual: Please respond to today's question in the comments, anonymously.
Those of you reading the comments on any of the anonymous comment threads, realize that that may increase the likelihood that some of the comments may be mean or NSFW.

What are you not as thankful for as you think you should be?

I've been contemplating this today as I'm in a mad frenzy of getting a lot of stuff done before we go out of town. And I had to take myself to task because it wasn't that long ago that I was seriously envious of people who had to make a megaton of food to take to welcoming families. And people who had way to many things to sew and craft before a holiday because they had the money to sew and craft.

So what I'm trying to say is that I've become complacent in my abundance and am trying to repent of that. I also just blogged about that, but you can't go read it because you don't know who I am!

My grandfather once said, "Don't worry about your money, worry about your health." So one day, while I was out worrying about my health, somebody stole all my money. It was my grandfather! (Rimshot.)

No, seriously, I don't know that I'm thankful enough about my health either. But having had a hospital detour early this year -- and still sometimes forgetting that whole episode even happened -- leads me to believe that health is one of those things you take for granted if you've got it just so you can get on with the million other damn things in the day. Like your job (which I'm also not thankful enough for).

I am not thankful enough for my partner, my child, my job, the brand new roof over my head (despite all the ceilings we now have to paint from before when we needed the new roof), the cupboards that are full and yet we still can't find anything to eat in the house-what's with that??? my very reliable vehicle even though it is over 103K and all the love and support of our family and friends who despite being very busy never seem to spend really good quality time with, very good medical care for a family member who pulled through a very scary time in '08. It appears I am not thankful enough for most everything.

Electricity. My husband. My dog. You. My sister. My paycheck. The moment. My rhythm and dancer hips. Al Gore. Not having to cook or travel for Thanksgiving. My health despite my habits. My friends despite my cancellations. Spell check. Writers and massage therapists. HBO. GOD.

God, I'm nowhere near as thankful as I should be for anything. I take so much for granted.
I'm working to change that, to look for the good rather than harp on the bad. Because when it comes down to it, I really do have it so good.

The fact that my dad was only obnoxious drunk during my childhood, not falling-down drunk.
